Also, during his speech he quoted Bible scriptures like a Southern Baptist or a Pentecostal, pulpit preacher. In his attempt to impress the Christians in his audience, he merely showed his ignorance, both Biblically as well as intellectually.
I often hear so-called intellectuals making references to their departed loved ones or friends watching them in their daily activities and approving them for their decisions. Some even declare their departed loved ones assisted them in their activities, such as winning sports events.
I am totally bewildered in my attempt to determine the foundation or origin of such beliefs; and how do educated, supposedly intelligent people, fall for such utter nonsense. I certainly do not find any factual basis whatsoever, or anything in the Bible that could even be misconstrued to come up with any such ignorant nonsense. Where does this belief have its origin other than ignorant pagan folklore?
The Bible makes it very clear, the dead are dead, and not alive, in some degree or another. Ecclesiastes 9:5 states, "For the living know that they shall die: but the dead know not any thing," The Psalmist says, "Put not your trust in princes, nor in the son of man, in whom there is no help. His breath goeth forth, he returneth to his earth; in that very day his thoughts perish." Psalms 146:3-4
The most amazing thing about this is probably, very few, if any, of all the people that
heard the speech thought there was anything abnormal about this behavior by the man
they selected to fill the most powerful position in the world. Where are the educated
people of this country? How did the general populace become so ignorant and
unlearned? Where is the Christian outrage? They have become as ignorant as the
President of the United States of America!
